Ilze Van Der Berg

Biography

Ilze van der Berg is a talented production designer and art director based in Cape Town, with a strong background in Johannesburg’s film industry. In recognition of her outstanding work, Ilze van der Berg received a prestigious SAFTA award for her exceptional design contributions. Specialising in designing and manufacturing paper props, on-screen signage, vehicle branding, and script research, Ilze has made significant contributions to various movies and television productions.

Her work includes creating Eugene’s diary and manufacturing paper props for “Eugene Marais,” designing lead glass windows and movie posters for “One Last Look,” and crafting paper props and vehicle branding for “Fanie Fourie se Labola.” Ilze has also worked on popular television shows like “The Wild,” “Isidingo,” and “Inkaba,” providing paper props, wall dressings, and computer graphics.

In addition to her film and TV work, Ilze has contributed to corporate campaigns, including designing the entire foyer for the “Young Designer of the Year 2009” launch and creating dressing and props for the “Standard Bank/Achievers Cricket Campaign.”
Currently based in Cape Town, as she navigates her career in Cape Town, Ilze is comfortable working as a set dresser and props master, bringing her attention to detail and meticulousness to both feature films and commercials.

Ilze’s ultimate goal is to resume her art directing and designing work, bringing her expertise and passion to local and international productions. With her keen eye for detail and passion for creating visually captivating experiences, she continues to make a significant impact in the industry.
